Worker Seriously Injured in Holmdel NJ Construction Accident

A Middlesex County man was serious injured as a result of a construction accident in Holmdel, New Jersey.
The accident occurred at the Bell Works site on Crawfords Corner Road in Holmdel, NJ. The victim, an 83-year-old construction worker, was operating an asphalt paver on a driveway when the machine got stuck in the pavement. According to authorities, the asphalt paver hit a lip at the exact spot where the driveway turns into the road and was temporarily lifted above the ground.
The force of impact caused the worker to be thrown from the machine. He landed directly on top of the asphalt that had just been laid on the ground. At that point, the worker was trapped between the machine and the ground.
Thankfully, another worker at the site was able to quickly run over to the area and stop the machine. The co-worker then removed the machine from the injured man while someone else dialed 911 and called for an ambulance.
Emergency medical crews with Monroe Paramedics and Holmdel First Aid soon arrived at the site and took the victim to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City, NJ. Doctors at the hospital stabilized the victim, but his injuries and burns proved too difficult for the hospital personnel and required a later transport to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
The Holmdel Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is currently investigating the construction accident and trying to determine exactly what happened. Depending on what cause the construction accident, it is possible that the injured worker may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit. Or, more likely, the injured worker will be able to file a workers' compensation claim, regardless of the cause of the construction accident. That's because the NJ workers' comp system is meant to protect injured workers and help them recover from their injuries in just about any circumstance.
